Frequently asked questions

Circular Quay follows the standard Sydney timetable — first services from around 4:30–5:00 am and last services around midnight. Overnight (roughly midnight to 4:30 am) NightRide buses replace trains. Always check the Opal Travel app for live times.

Circular Quay is served by the T2 line on the Sydney rail network. See the line page for the full stopping pattern and connections.

Many Sydney stations have step-free access, lifts or ramps, tactile guidance and accessible Opal gates; check the Transport for NSW station page for the exact facilities and any boarding-ramp assistance before you travel.

Prams and folding bikes are welcome at all times. Full-size bicycles are allowed on Sydney Trains and the Metro outside the busiest peak direction — please keep doorways clear.

Tap on and off with an Opal card or a contactless bank card or phone (Apple Pay / Google Pay) — the fare is the same and counts towards the daily and weekly caps. Opal fares are distance-based, so longer trips cost a little more, and travel is 30% cheaper off-peak.
